India’s Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh indicated that BrahMos missile deal with Vietnam has already been signed and negotiations with Indonesia has entered the final stage. This showcases the India’s growing role as the defense manufacturing and export hub and also highlights the increasing interest among Southeast Asian nations to acquiring advanced Indian military technology.
India Expands BrahMos Missile Exports
The BrahMos missile system has emerged as India’s one of the most successful defense exports in recent years.
Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in the Singapore, Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh stated that Vietnam has already signed the deal to procure the BrahMos missile system but the official public announcement is yet to be made.
He also confirmed that the negotiations with Indonesia are enetred in the final stages and could be concluded soon.
Vietnam Deal Marks Major Strategic Achievement
Vietnam has been considered as one of the most likely buyers of the BrahMos missile for several years. Recent reports had suggested that the negotiations were nearing completion but Singh’s remarks represent the first official public indication that the agreement has been signed.
The deal is also expected to significantly strengthen the defense cooperation between India and Vietnam. It also reflects the growing security collaboration between the two countries amid evolving the geopolitical dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region.
Indonesia Agreement Near Finalization
Indonesia is also moving closer to acquiring the India’s BrahMos missile system. Earlier in the year 2026, Indonesia has announced that it had entered into the agreement with India regarding the procurement of the missile system.
According to the Defense Secretary Singh discussions have now progressed to the final stage. Once the negotiations completed, Indonesia would become another major ASEAN nation to operate as one of the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile systems.
Philippines Was the First Foreign Buyer
The Philippines had became the first international customer for the BrahMos missile system.
