The Annual International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI)
The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) and its partners hold the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI) every year. The conference aims to facilitate discussions among member countries, organizations, institutions, and infrastructure stakeholders to promote disaster and climate-resilient infrastructure. ICDRI 2023 will be a hybrid conference that brings together decision-makers, thought leaders, academia, and institutions from around the world to discuss solutions for infrastructure resilience.
The Importance of Infrastructure Resilience for Meeting People’s Needs
Infrastructure systems such as energy, transport, water, wastewater management, digital communication, and others are crucial to meeting people’s needs. It is essential to ensure that infrastructure is sustainable, resilient, and inclusive to achieve the desired social and environmental impacts while also providing long-term economic gains. To achieve these goals, responsive policy and governance, technology and innovation, knowledge exchange and capacity development, and sustainable financing are essential. ICDRI 2023 will focus on designing solutions and pathways to embed and achieve infrastructure resilience through collaboration, innovation, and risk-informed approaches.
Objectives of ICDRI 2023: Building Partnerships and Fostering Knowledge Sharing
The objectives of ICDRI 2023 include providing a platform for member countries to engage and contribute to DRI solution pathways, bringing together infrastructure actors to build partnerships and foster knowledge sharing, and convening DRI stakeholders to enhance collective action on infrastructure resilience. The conference will focus on three thematic pillars: Delivering Resilient Infrastructure – Inclusive and Risk-Informed Systems, Providing Reliable Services through Resilient Infrastructure Assets, and Realizing Finance and Investments for Infrastructure Resilience.
Showcasing Solutions for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure at ICDRI 2023
ICDRI 2023 will showcase demonstrated practices and solutions that enable the provisioning of resilient infrastructure to people and economies across different geographies, climate typologies, and infrastructure sectors. During the upcoming International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI) in 2023, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about various initiatives related to disaster resilient infrastructure, including progress on the Biennial Report on Global Infrastructure Resilience, the collaborative delivery mechanism of IRIS with SIDS, operationalization of IRAF, and the launch of the DRI Academic Network and Partnership. The conference aims to focus on identifying and discussing practical solutions and pathways to promote resilient infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on risk-informed systems, resilient infrastructure assets, and innovative financing.
