Importance of Disaster Management in Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand is more at risk of natural disasters due to its Himalayan location and delicate mountainous ecosystem.
Major risks include earthquakes, landslides, flash flooding, cloudbursts, glacial lake outburst floods and avalanches.
By regularly carrying out disaster preparedness, this can help decrease the loss of life and property. This is because the early response is improved, collaboration between institutions and awareness is created.
