The domestic 50-over tournament, originally known as the Ranji One Day Trophy, was introduced as a national tournament in the 2002-03 season, replacing the previous zonal format. It was renamed the Vijay Hazare Trophy before the 2007-08 season. Among the champions, Karnataka leads, while Tamil Nadu (3 titles), Mumbai (2 titles), and Saurashtra (2 titles) have also won multiple times.
Karun Nair, a former Karnataka batter and Vidarbha skipper, was the top scorer with 779 runs, including five centuries and a fifty. India and Punjab seamer Arshdeep Singh was the highest wicket-taker with 20 dismissals.
