The 20 year old Chennai born player produced the brilliant performance in the final round and defeated the Germany’s Vincent Keymer to claim the prestigious title. His victory is landmark achievement as even the legendary players like Viswanathan Anand and reigning World Champion D Gukesh had never won the tournament.

Although the Wesley So won the tie break and added 1.5 points to finish on 17 points but it was not enough to surpass the Praggnanandhaa’s winning tally of 18 points.
