Soma Mandal has been awarded with the South Asia regional winner of the prestigious Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards 2026. She was recognized for her outstanding contribution to the environmental and climate change education. The award was announced by Cambridge University Press & Assessment and they have recognized Mandal’s work for encouraging students to actively engage with environmental issues and to fight against climate change.
Recognition Among Thousands of Global Nominations
The Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards are organized every year to honor the exceptional educators from around the world who have make a meaningful impact in students lives.
For the 2026 edition more than 12,000 nominations were received and received the entries from 126 countries.
Also Judges has shortlisted the 90 teachers globally and finally the nine regional winners were selected.
Soma Mandal has emerged as the winner from the South Asia region which reflects the global recognition of her innovative teaching approach and environmental awareness initiatives.
Why Soma Mandal Was Chosen
Soma Mandal has been recognized particularly for her efforts to make the students more aware of climate change, sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Her teaching approach focuses on to encouraging students to explore environmental challenges and also promote the practical problem-solving related to climate issues. Also to create the safe and inspiring classroom environments and building confidence and leadership among young learners.
The award committee has highlighted how her work empowers the students with real world knowledge and skills needed to face the future environmental challenges.

What the Winners Will Receive
As part of the recognition each of the regional winner will receive the,
- £500 worth of the books for their classroom
- Also a trophy from Cambridge
- International publicity for their school
- And recognition in the future Cambridge textbooks
Also their names will appear on a special ‘Thank You’ page in the new Cambridge textbooks scheduled for the release in November 2026.
