The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) commenced its 75th Foundation Year celebrations at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, marking over seven decades of service to workers and their families across India.
The event was addressed by Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, who described ESIC’s journey as a remarkable example of growth, reform and national service.
From 1.2 Lakh to 15 Crore Beneficiaries
ESIC began in 1952 with around 1.2 lakh beneficiaries and a single dispensary. Today, it serves over 15 crore beneficiaries through:
- 166 hospitals
- 17 medical colleges
- Nearly 1,600 dispensaries
The Union Minister emphasized that ESIC has evolved into a strong pillar of India’s social security system.

Commemorative Coin & Coffee Table Book
A commemorative coin marking ESIC@75 was released along with a coffee table book showcasing ESIC’s legacy.
Swasthya Rath Initiative
Launched to expand outreach and bring healthcare services closer to beneficiaries.
Annual Health Check-ups
In line with Labour Code provisions, mandatory annual health check-ups for workers aged 40+ were rolled out.
Major MoUs Signed
- MoU between ESIC and the National Health Authority to align the ESI Scheme with Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana for coordinated healthcare delivery.
- MoU with the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories to strengthen quality assurance in ESIC healthcare facilities.
Special Services Fortnight
ESIC will observe a Special Services Fortnight (24 February–10 March 2026) across its offices and hospitals nationwide.
Activities include:

- Grievance redressal drives
- Settlement of pending claims
