India to Host Inaugural IBCA summit in New Delhi Next Month

India is set to host maiden International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit on June 1-2, 2026 in the National Capital. The announcement was made by Respectable Union Environment Minister launched the official website and logo of the summit. This gathering will brings the world leaders, scientists and conservationists and it focus on protecting the big cats and preserving global ecosystems.

India to Host First IBCA Summit in New Delhi

The summit will be organized under the leadership of Union Minister for Environment Bhupender Yadav and he have emphasized the importance of global collaboration in the wildlife conservation.

The International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) is the intergovernmental organization which is headquartered in India and it was created to conserve the seven major big cat species,

  1. Lion
  2. Tiger
  3. Leopard
  4. Snow Leopard
  5. Cheetah
  6. Jaguar
  7. Puma

The summit is expected to witness the participation from various Heads of State, policymakers, scientists and the global institutions and will make it a major event in the international conservation diplomacy.

Theme and Vision of the Summit

The IBCA Summit 2026 will be guided by the theme of the ‘Save Big Cats, Save Humanity, Save Ecosystem’

This theme will reflects the idea which protecting the apex predators like big cats as they are essential for maintaining ecological balance and biodiversity.

The summit also aims to build the unified global strategy for conservation.

Delhi Declaration: Can Be A Major Expected Outcome?

One of the most important  outcomes of the summit will be the adoption of the ‘Delhi Declaration’ which is the first ever global declaration which will focused exclusively on big cat conservation.

This declaration will define shared global priorities and promote the transboundary conservation efforts.

It also encourage a landscape based approach to habitat protection.

It is also expected to set the direction for the future international cooperation in wildlife conservation.

India’s Leadership in Big Cat Conservation

India has the strong track record in the wildlife protection and specially through initiatives like Project Tiger.

The country has successfully implemented the programs for,

The summit will witness the participation from 95 big cat range countries. It will also have technical sessions involving experts and policymakers.

There is curated exhibition is planned as it showcases the tribal art, wildlife photography and films and virtual reality experiences.

This will help to raise awareness and promote the global engagement in conservation efforts.

IBCA A Unique Global Initiative

The IBCA was launched in the year 2023 under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. It is the first of its kind global platform which is dedicated exclusively to big cat conservation.

The alliance focuses on the collaborative conservation strategies and knowledge sharing among countries.

It will also support with the financial and technical mechanisms.

It also showcases the India’s vision of addressing global environmental challenges via collective action.
