Centre Pauses WhatsApp Username Feature, Seeks Meta’s Explanation

However, the Centre has sought clarification on its functioning, privacy and security safeguards, compliance with Indian laws, risks of impersonation, and measures to prevent fraud and cybercrime. Until consultations are completed, Meta has been directed not to launch the feature in India.
